Saankhya Labs’ Navdoot Vessel Tracking System wins Skoch Defence Award in “Gold” category

Saankhya Labs’ Navdoot Vessel Tracking System was honored with the prestigious Skoch Defence Award in the “Gold” category. The award was presented by eminent author and economist Bibek Debroy at a ceremony held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, on January 11, 2020.

The Navdoot Vessel Tracking System is a state-of-the-art solution that provides 2-way communication for fishermen venturing into deep-sea waters. This advanced communication link is established via ISRO’s satellite network. The system has already been installed in 300 fishing vessels across Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, showcasing its effectiveness and reliability.

The Navdoot system plays a crucial role in enhancing coastal security within Indian waters by enabling real-time tracking of fishing boats. Once deployed in all fishing vessels, the system will empower the coast guard to monitor the movement of every boat in Indian waters, significantly improving maritime surveillance.

For fishermen, the Navdoot Vessel Tracking System is a lifesaver. In emergencies, fishermen can send an SOS signal along with their precise location coordinates, ensuring swift rescue operations. Additionally, during storms or cyclones, the system allows the fisheries department to broadcast warnings, urging vessels in the affected area to return to safety promptly.
